What is Momentum Quest?

An experience built from
your team's own story.

Momentum Quest is a self-guided experience that helps you and your teammates understand how you really work together — and choose one better way forward.

Before the Quest, everyone privately shares their perspective. ZenWorkspace brings those anonymous answers together to reveal the patterns shaping your experience at work, and builds a Quest around what your group actually needs.

Then you gather for 75 minutes to explore what is helping you move forward, what keeps getting in the way, and what you want to change together.

You leave with a shared Momentum Practice: one simple way of working that you create together and can start using right away.

You bring the honesty. ZenWorkspace builds the journey. Together, you decide what happens next.

See the patterns beneath your work

Understand what gives you momentum together — and what keeps making progress harder than it needs to be.

Have the conversation you've been needing

Guided prompts help you compare perspectives, listen to each other, and make sense of the pattern together.

Choose one better way of working

Create one Momentum Practice you can start using immediately.

The shift

From individual frustration
to shared understanding.

Before the Quest

“I thought it was just me.”

After the Quest

“Now I understand our team.”

Work feels personal when people experience the same team differently but never have a safe way to compare what they see. The Momentum Quest turns isolated experiences into a shared picture the team can understand and improve together.

The complete journey

One Momentum Season.
Four clear stages.

A Momentum Season begins before the team gathers and continues after the 75-minute Quest is complete.

Stage 1

The Pathfinder opens the trail

One teammate becomes the Pathfinder. They help the team get started and coordinate the experience.

The Pathfinder does not need to facilitate difficult conversations, teach the content, or have the answers. ZenWorkspace guides the process.

Stage 2

The team shapes the Quest

Each teammate privately shares their perspective through a short anonymous check-in — the Momentum Scan.

Those responses are combined at the team level and used to create a personalized experience. No individual answers are shown to the Pathfinder, sponsor, manager, or teammates.

Stage 3

The team completes the Momentum Quest

The team gathers for approximately 75 minutes, either in person or remotely. Together, they:

  • Discover their Team Pattern
  • Explore what is strengthening and draining momentum
  • Compare perspectives
  • Choose one area they can influence
  • Create one shared Momentum Practice
Stage 4

The team carries the practice forward

The Quest ends with a practical commitment the team designed itself.

The sponsor receives the team-level Expedition Map and any Support Condition the team chooses to share. The team continues practicing its new way of working throughout the season.

Every time you join a team, you begin an expedition — whether you realize it or not.

Getting to a place where people do their best work together depends on more than talent or effort. It depends on the conditions surrounding the work: how people communicate, how decisions get made, how trust is built, how challenges are handled.

Get the conditions right and a team finds its momentum. Reaching it together is the quest.

No two Quests are the same

Generic workshops start with someone else's answers.
Momentum Quest starts with yours.

Most team workshops begin with a fixed presentation, a facilitator's framework, or advice created for a generic team.

Momentum Quest begins with the people who actually experience the work. Every teammate contributes one anonymous piece of the story. ZenWorkspace combines those perspectives to reveal the team-level pattern beneath everyday work.

That pattern determines what the team explores during the Quest.

Your team is not fitted into a workshop.
The Quest is built around your team.

That is why the conversation feels relevant from the beginning. The team is not discussing abstract leadership principles. It is making sense of its own experience.

Inside the Quest

What does the team actually do
for 75 minutes?

The Quest runs on one shared screen. The team follows a guided trail of reveals, prompts, decisions, and short activities.

0–10 min

Arrive at the trailhead

The team chooses three lightweight roles, reviews the rules of the journey, and enters the experience together.

10–25 min

Discover the pattern

The team sees what its anonymous input revealed, including its strongest source of momentum and its most important drain.

25–50 min

Explore the terrain

Teammates compare perspectives and discuss how the pattern shows up in everyday work.

50–70 min

Design the practice

The team chooses one area it can influence and creates a Momentum Practice in its own words.

70–75 min

Set the next checkpoint

The team agrees on how it will remember, practice, and revisit the commitment.

No lectures. No breakout-room exercises. No outside facilitator interpreting the team for them.
ZenWorkspace guides the experience, but the team does the discovering.

Built for honest participation

The Quest only works when people
feel safe enough to tell the truth.

Momentum Quest is designed to help the team understand itself — not evaluate individual employees.

Anonymous by design

Teammates do not enter names, email addresses, or written comments that could reveal who said what.

Team-level insights only

Individual answers are combined into a collective pattern. No one receives an individual report or score.

The team owns the conversation

The sponsor receives team-level insight, not private details from the team's discussion.

Every voice shapes the journey

The Quest is created from the team's collective input, so no single person defines the story for everyone else.

We do not use the answers to evaluate people.
We use them to help the team see the system surrounding the work.

This is a tool for the team, built from the team, and completed by the team.

What the team leaves with

The continuous expedition

One Quest changes a conversation.
Seasons change a team.

A team's way of working took years to form. One season starts the shift — each season after is where it takes hold. Every season, your team returns to the trail: sees what's changed, and takes the next step together.

Season 1 · Now

Find your route

Discover your pattern and choose your first Momentum Practice.

Season 2

Walk it

Return, see what's changed against your baseline, and keep climbing.

Season 3

Adjust

New terrain, new insights — refine how your team works.

Season 4

Keep building

Momentum compounds. Better habits become how your team simply works.

…and the expedition continues.

Your Team Pattern

Every team develops a pattern.
Most teams have never had language for theirs.

A Team Pattern is not a personality label or a score. It is a shared picture of the conditions surrounding the work: what the team relies on, where tension is building, and what may help it move forward. The Momentum Quest reveals the pattern, but the team decides what it means and what to do next.

Twelve patterns. One belongs to your team's current season.

Two roles. One team-owned experience.

The sponsor opens the door.
The Pathfinder helps the team step through it.

The Pathfinder

Helps the team begin

A teammate who helps the team start the journey — no facilitation experience required.

  • Accepts the Pathfinder role
  • Shares the private team invitation
  • Coordinates the 75-minute session
  • Advances the shared Quest experience
  • Is not expected to facilitate, diagnose, or represent management

Inside the session, the experience assigns three lightweight roles so no outside facilitator is required. The Pathfinder advances the shared experience while ZenWorkspace provides the instructions, pacing, prompts, and transitions.

Pathfinder

Moves the Quest forward on the shared screen and helps the team get started.

Catalyst

Makes space for participation and helps every voice enter the conversation.

Scribe

Captures the decisions the team makes together.

Explorers

Everyone else participates as an Explorer. No training or preparation needed.

The sponsor enables the experience. ZenWorkspace guides it. The team owns what it discovers.

Is this right for our team?

Built for teams who depend on
each other to get work done.

5–15
teammates

Work together regularly and share goals, decisions, or deliverables.

In person or remote
works either way

One shared screen in a room, or one screen shared on a video call. Hybrid welcome.

75 minutes
one focused session

Plus a short anonymous check-in beforehand — about five to seven minutes per person.

Teams that get the most from a Momentum Season:

Product & engineering teams Leadership teams Operations teams Sales & customer teams Cross-functional project teams Nonprofit & community teams Founding teams Sports teams

If your team makes decisions together, depends on each other to get work done, and can gather for one focused session, the Quest will surface something worth talking about.

Momentum Quest is not designed as:

  • An individual personality assessment
  • A performance-management tool
  • A replacement for professional conflict mediation
  • A general employee-engagement survey
  • A large all-hands activity
Questions

Before you set out

What exactly are we purchasing?

One Momentum Season for one team. It includes the anonymous team input, personalized Momentum Quest, Team Pattern, Momentum Practice, check-in ritual, and sponsor Expedition Map.

Is this a workshop?

It is a guided team experience, but it does not operate like a traditional workshop. There is no presenter, external facilitator, lecture, or fixed curriculum. The experience is personalized from the team's own input and completed collaboratively on one shared screen.

Do we need a facilitator?

No. ZenWorkspace provides the prompts, instructions, timing, transitions, and activities. The team selects three lightweight roles to keep the experience moving.

How long does the experience take?

The team should reserve 75 uninterrupted minutes. The anonymous input happens separately beforehand and takes approximately five to seven minutes per person.

What does the sponsor or manager see?

The sponsor receives team-level insights through the Expedition Map, including the Team Pattern, progress through the season, the Momentum Practice, and any Support Condition the team chooses to share. Individual responses are never shown.

Are responses really anonymous?

Yes. Individual responses are combined to create the team-level pattern. The experience does not expose individual scores or answers.

Does the manager attend the Quest?

The experience is designed to belong to the team. A manager may participate when they are genuinely part of the working team, but no participant receives special access inside the Quest.

What happens after the Quest?

The team carries its Momentum Practice into everyday work and uses a lightweight check-in ritual to keep it active. The sponsor can follow the season through the Expedition Map and support any condition the team identifies.

Can remote teams use it?

Yes. One teammate shares the Quest screen during the call, and the team completes the experience together.

How many people can participate?

The ideal team size is approximately 5–15 people — large enough for different perspectives, small enough that every voice fits in one conversation.
